Competition doesn't have to just be wit conventional everyday
sports. In fact there are many sports out there that have a very
competitive drive among its players. For instance foosball. You've
probably heard of this game in arcades and bars. But probably didn't think that it was an actual played sport. Well I’m here 2 tell you it is. As u read n a previous blog the reason we were at the Holidome was for a foosball tourney. Yes a tournament. They actually have these.
A friend of mine named Ryan is the one who plays. He has been playing every since he was a little kid. His mom ran tournaments and that's how he got into it. Growing up around it just made him love the game. As he grew older he loved it more and more. He said when he was about 12 there was a kid that was around 15 named Justin that thought he was the best and beat all the kids under 18. Ryan didn't really like that 2 much. He used it as motivation 2 drive his competitive spirit more and more. Soon Ryan would surpass Justin. By far. At the age of 17 he was the best under 18 in the world. He was good enough to play with a friend of his n a junior tourney and win him a trip to the world tourney in Italy. He told me he could have been playing with someone who didn't even know what foosball was and he still could have won. That shows the dominance he had in his age group.
He is now 20 and is considered one of the top three players in the world. All of his opponents are at least at the age of 30. So it is just astonishing how good he has gotten n the allotted about of time. And it was all due do his competitiveness. It can drive you 2 do great things. Jus goes to show you you can accomplish whatever want to, as long as u put in the time and the work.

RPS
A lot of people know what rock paper scissors is. Just a fun game that kids play. For me it’s a little more than that. Its competition. When me and my friends get into rps battles it is very fierce. We really get into it. We have our set of rules we play by, on shoot best two out of three.
We us it to solve many disputes. Whether it’s who has to go to the store rillo, who has to go get the food, or even some thing as simple as who has to fill up the water cups for bp. It’s just the easiest way to solve things. It ends all conflict. U can’t argue with rps. If you ever have trouble solving an issue you should try using it. It really helps.
And it’s not just for who has to do what it’s also about winning, of course. No one wants to lose, that’s never any fun. There are actually even strategies to playing. Which we do use. The most heated battle that I ever had was with Britton. It was over who had to go pick up our Chinese. He took the lead early. I was in the hole now. I had to win two before he won one. Rock, paper, scissors, shot. He had rock I had paper, I won. It was all even. Only one more victory to win it all. Then it got really intense. Next round we both throw rock. Next round we both throw paper. Then scissors, then rock, then scissors, then rock, then paper, then rock! Damn, this was going go on forever. Next round he threw scissors I threw rock. Victory was mine. And didn’t it taste so sweet. Well actually more like General Tso’s chicken.

5-0
Beer pong has become a pretty big thing at parties and get togethers among college students. And among me and friends particularly. It’s the next big “who’s better” thing. And you know me; I am definitely one who is down for competition. Over the weekend I went over to a friend’s to get down on some bp. I didn’t know that the reason that I was going to have to get off the table was going to be because of my own choice.
As soon as I got there I got drafted up to become my friend Landon’s partner. In case you didn’t know “drafted up” means to get picked. We were the first ones up on the table. I really didn’t think we were going to do that good considering I had just got there and didn’t get a chance to warm up. But somehow we came out and won our first game. As we were playing our second game more people started to arrive to the party. There was this one guy that as soon as he got there he came straight to the beer pong table and asked “who’s got next?” There were probably about 3 other people in front of him. He watched us play our game and kept making little smart remarks about how we weren’t that good and should definitely lose this game. We were down only one cup. Landon and I decided we were going to shut this guy up. We pulled it together and got the victory. But this guy still was going on about how he would beat us. It was just fuel to the fire.
The next game we had got the cups set up and were about to shot when we heard “u suck” come from under some ones breathe. We knew who it was. I looked the guy right in the eyes. As I was doing so I preceded to shot the ball. Sink. Nailed it. Landon then shot his ball. Sink. Bring it back. Bring it back is when both teammates make their ball in the same turn. But this guy seemed to be a little shocked. We were a lot better than he thought. We went on to win that game. Landon hit maybe two cups that game but it was all good. It’s a team game and that’s what matters. We won as a team. We were 3-0 for the night.
The next game first shot we both hit and brought it back. Then we brought it back again. We were both warming up. Landon shot and hit. He was on fire. He got to shot until he missed. He then made two more shots. It was insane. We had already knocked down seven cups and they hadn’t even shot yet. I was in such awww I missed my shot. The guy on the sideline didn’t know what to say. All he could do then was give us our props. We went on to win that game with ease. 4-0. We played our fifth game and ended it by both hitting the last cup not even allowing a rebuttal. That is when the other team gets a chance to take the game into overtime after the other team has made the last cup. That was an awesome way to end the game and a really awesome feeling to do it. The guy on the sideline was supposed to be next but his ride was leaving so we didn’t get to play him. We would get him next time. We decided that we were done for the night. 5-0 was good enough for us. Plus all of the competition was gone. Nothing left to do when u don’t have competition.

Beating Meech
You probably think all of my posts are going to be about basketball. Well that’s where you’re wrong. They are also about beer pong. Competition just doesn’t have to be sports related. It can apply to many aspects of life. One in my life which is beer pong.
For those of you who don’t know what beer pong is it is a game involving beer, obviously, balls, and cups. You play with teams of two. Each team has 10 cups set up in front of them n the shape of a pyramid. You have two ping pong balls that you shot at the set of cups. The objective is to make the ball into all 10 cups before they make them into all of yours. There is a very common and important rule known as “nba jam rules”. If a player hits two shots in consecutive turns they must call “heating up”. If on the next turn they hit a third shot in a row they will say “on fire”. And as a result of that they get the ball back and get to shot until they miss. Simple enough right? Well at least for the most part. Depending on the “house” you play at the rules may very.
But over the weekend Britton and I went over to a friend’s house to play some bp. The house we were going to play at had some very good bp players. Guys that would go play in actual tournaments and play bp like on the daily. We had played there quite a few times before. We had had some success there in the past. Just not against a certain team Meech and Nathan. They were both really good. And together almost unbeatable. We ended up playing them that night and for once had a good game. We got down to 5 cups a piece. I made a cup. Britton missed. Then Meech made a cup. Nathan missed. It came back to me and I made another cup. I was heating up. Britton missed again. Then Meech also made another cup. He was also heating up. Nathan missed again too. I was going for my on fire. I missed. Damn! I thought for sure I had blew it. But Britton had made his. But somehow Meech and Nathan both missed. We had to capitalize. We only had two cups left and they still had three. I was going to make this one I could feel it. Tink! Right off the front of the cup. But my partner pulled through and made another one. He was heating up. All we had was one cup left. We were positive they were going to make at least one. Tink, tink. They both missed! Since Britton was heating up he went first to try and get his on fire. Sink. He hit it. He got the ball back. If he made this one the game was over. Sink. Game. I dint even have to shot. It was a pretty awesome feeling. We had never beaten them. Ahhh life was good. And we decided to retire for the rest of the night and end it on victory. Not a bad night if I do say so myself.

Holidome
As you know basketball is what I do. It’s kind of my thing. This post will be like the others and talk about it some more. But the awesome thing about basketball is it is different every time you play. One game you could come out and feel like Michael Jordan. And the next you could feel like the water boy.>But when that happens it just drives you to do better. Well it does for me at least. That competitive drive just makes me want to go out and prove myself. And to win of course.
My last basketball experience wasn’t that bad of one. I was out at the Holiday Inn for a friend's foosball tournament. They had a basketball goal so I played with some friends. A couple of guys we didn’t know came up there and asked if they could play with us. Of course we said sure. We play a couple games of 32 to warm up first. Everyone gets loose and we all get warmed up and decide to play 3 on 3.The first game we played was really close. It got to 14-14 in a game to 16. We had possession.Britton took the ball out at the top of the key. I came off of a screen and was open on the wing. He passed me the ball and without any hesitation I took the shot.Swish, nothing but the bottom of the net. Game over.
The next game we played wasn’t half as hard. One of the guys on the other team had to leave so they picked up another man. This guy was about 6’2” and probably around 180 lbs. not a bad sized guy. But his basketball skills just weren’t all there. We got up to a 9-4 lead. The new guy on their team wasn’t playing very well and his teammate, Stevie, just kept yelling at him. He wasn’t making him play any better. My team and I decided we were going to lay back a little so Stevie would lay off the new guy a little bit.We let them start to make somewhat of a come back but were still up 12-9.
Then something happen the changed all that.Britton set me a pick and then rolled to the basket and I hit him with a pass as he was rolling. He went up for a lay up n stride and the new guy came over top and blocked the shot. As he did so he proceeded to say “yea bitch!”After that we decided that we were not going to hold back anymore. We got the ball back because he had blocked it out of bounds. They didn’t get to touch the ball again. We scored every possession. That just goes to show you, you try to help someone out a little bit and it can come back to bite you. From now on I plan on keeping my game face on the entire game.
